Use these checks to compare equivalent supply specifications and narrow the candidate range for your actual process.

Product selection support

Discuss water conditions, process position and current products.

Specification & document coordination

Align specification basis, test methods and grade-specific documents.

Packaging & supply coordination

Review quantity, packaging and destination requirements.

Specifications & selection

Specifications and order requirements

Discuss your current grade or operating conditions. ENVO codes identify sales requirements; manufacturer grades, supply specifications, test methods and document versions are confirmed for the selected product.

Application-specific specificationBase chemicals

Availability confirmed. Share the intended use, preferred form and key requirements to confirm the grade and its technical documentation.

Application conditions & technical scope

Assess separately from ferric coagulation. Consider chloride load, pH, oxidation and downstream separation.

Appearance and supplied form

Confirm the form before comparing specifications.

Check the required form, then compare the composition, specifications and test conditions of the specific grade.

Application issues and troubleshooting

Ferrous Chloride — troubleshooting checks

Review symptoms, possible causes and verification steps together to prepare a more focused product-selection discussion.

01Fine suspended solids or scum remain after Ferrous Chloride dosing
Possible causes
Changes in water charge, pH/alkalinity, oil/dye type or mixing and separation conditions may make the existing specification unsuitable.
Investigation and resolution
Distinguish colloid coagulation, demulsification and flocculation first. Compare the coagulant and supporting PAM using the same water sample, assessing clarification and separation.
Checks required
Provide ferrous content; free acid; impurities; downstream solid–liquid separation, plus current product, actual water sample and process location.
Application limits
The coagulant name alone cannot establish removal of an oil phase, metal complexes or dissolved COD.
02Sludge or pH changes from Ferrous Chloride differ from expectations
Possible causes
The active-component basis, acid/alkali demand or jointly used chemicals may have changed; inorganic salts and organic polymers act differently.
Investigation and resolution
Use the same active-metal or polymer basis. Record pH, sludge and downstream dewatering, assessing the main chemical and aid separately.
Checks required
Incoming-water pH and alkalinity, current chemical documents, process sequence, sludge samples and equipment records.
Application limits
Candidate chemicals are not a blend that must all be used together; confirm reaction locations and product compatibility separately.
03Color changes in ferrous chloride tetrahydrate or solution
Possible causes
Oxidation, acidity or hydration changes can produce yellow-green to yellow-brown appearance differences.
Investigation and resolution
Compare Fe(II)/total iron and free acid; confirm tetrahydrate solid versus industrial solution.
Checks required
Actual form, product SDS, test methods, storage and sampling times.
Application limits
Green crystal images cannot represent all industrial ferrous chloride solutions; color does not establish reducing capacity.

PURCHASING QUESTIONS

More questions, answered.

Fine suspended solids or scum remain after Ferrous Chloride dosing — what should I check?

Distinguish colloid coagulation, demulsification and flocculation first. Compare the coagulant and supporting PAM using the same water sample, assessing clarification and separation.

What should I compare when buying Ferrous Chloride?

Share the application, current product, purchase quantity and delivery location to help confirm a suitable specification. Key checks include: Ferrous iron content; Free acid; Impurities; Downstream solid–liquid separation. Compare the current grade document and the same test basis before choosing an alternative.

Which documents should accompany a Ferrous Chloride enquiry?

Request the current grade-specific TDS and product SDS, the COA for the actual supplied batch, and any intended-use documents required for the destination. Share the application, specification, quantity and delivery requirements. Document version, batch coverage and public-release scope are confirmed for the specific request.
