Changing DDAC suppliers: which delivery differences are missed by testing active content alone?

Changing DDAC suppliers: which delivery differences are missed by testing active content alone?
Total active content is important but does not represent a complete DDAC product. Supplier changes require checks of carrier, physical properties, packaging and actual-use documents, particularly when the existing system’s procedures were built around the former product.

First establish whether the purchase is a raw material or a formulated product

Raw materials for formulation manufacturing and water-treatment products with defined instructions carry different supply responsibilities. Both may use DDAC as the main active ingredient, but equal concentration alone does not justify substitution. Obtain complete existing-product technical documents and labels to identify the originally approved product. If only a generic chemical name remains, restore the information before seeking a new quotation with the same percentage.

Check how physical properties affect the existing chemical-feed system

Equipment and actual storage and transport conditions determine whether viscosity, low-temperature behavior, density and material compatibility require control. If data are unavailable, request specific checks instead of inventing typical values. Equal active concentration does not guarantee equal carriers or physical properties. Pump, hose and seal confirmation must concern the actual product; one commercial DDAC label’s conclusions cannot cover all products.

Distinguish labeled uses from general application descriptions

The historical BTC 1010 label shows that DDAC products can have detailed water-treatment use limits, but its date, issuing entity and model must remain explicit. Newly supplied products need their own documentation; an old supplier’s document cannot continue to support site use. Changes in use, packaging or supply identity require the project lead to consider renewed review. A change described as only the raw-material manufacturer is not grounds to omit verification.

Keep test conditions consistent for old and new samples

Where needed, specialists should compare actual old and new products using representative water and common objectives while observing process effects. Identify batches, analytical bases and result limitations; an unchanged-looking sample photograph cannot establish equivalence. Record other additives when combinations are involved. Basic single-product data cannot validate an entire treatment procedure.

Sign off on explicit change-acceptance conditions

The final review should list confirmed matches, acceptable differences and matters requiring further observation, linked to the order version. Responsible personnel should update site procedures from product and equipment documents; the webpage provides no universal substitution ratio. Explain that the inquiry concerns replacing an existing supplier and attach necessary information to reduce repeated communication and align new supply commitments with actual needs.

In a changeover review, separate parameters that must remain consistent from those allowed to change subject to verification. This lets the supplier respond clearly about actual capabilities without requiring every typical physical property to be identical. Conclusions should follow equipment and process needs; differences between actual formulated products must not be ignored merely to retain old procedures.

Does identical active content make two formulated products fully equivalent?

No. Formulation, physical properties, uses and site conditions also require review.

Can the previous supplier’s label continue to be used for a new product?

It cannot serve as the corresponding use documentation for the new commercial product.
