TCCA tablets have the same dimensions: why is feeder chlorine delivery still unstable?

Fitting inside a feeder does not make tablets interchangeable. When chlorine delivery fluctuates, compare tablet batches, equipment water circuits and operating loads together, distinguishing material changes from equipment changes.

First organize the anomaly into a timeline

Record the date and tablet batch when anomalies began, and changes in residual chlorine, circulation flow and operating load before and after replenishment. Replace daily averages with time-series data using the same sampling point and method to distinguish persistently low levels from sudden changes. Avoid changing chemicals, valves and controllers simultaneously before records are complete; even restored operation would then leave the effective factor unclear.

Dimensions are only one aspect of compatibility

Ask the feeder manufacturer to confirm permitted product type, tablet weight, diameter, thickness and loading format. Check fragmentation, powdering and packaging integrity across old and new batches. Tablet photographs aid identification but cannot establish equivalent dissolution and feed performance. Preserve complete labels and batch numbers in sample assessments and compare under equipment-approved conditions. Do not crush tablets or mix different disinfectants to increase dissolution speed.

Separate waterline inspection from pool-water assessment

Maintenance personnel should inspect inlet, outlet, filtration and control components under the equipment manual. Pool-side records should also cover pH, cyanuric acid, makeup and discharge water, and bather numbers. CDC pool-management guidance emphasizes ongoing testing and recirculation maintenance, so one chlorine-residual anomaly is insufficient evidence of tablet quality. Equipment-outlet and pool readings represent different locations; identify location and sampling time when comparing them.

Use first-batch acceptance to reduce recurring disputes

Combine permitted equipment conditions, appearance-defect records, batch available-chlorine reports and site-trial records into one acceptance package. Supply acceptance confirms agreed material specifications; operational acceptance confirms stable metering under defined conditions. Sign off separately. Inquiries with equipment model, current tablet photographs and an anomaly timeline generally produce more actionable responses than simply requesting ‘slower-dissolving chlorine tablets.’

File chemical-feeder performance separately from tablet specifications

Create a same-day operating comparison sheet recording tablet batches alongside equipment flow, replenishment and maintenance events. If performance changes after a batch change but the feeder was also cleaned, the result cannot be attributed entirely to the tablets. Photograph changes in remaining tablet shape, fragmentation or surface condition and record the observation time; do not infer available chlorine from shape. Where further trials are needed, equipment and chemical specialists should jointly confirm comparison conditions, avoiding tablet sizes not accepted for the equipment. Buyers should also establish whether approved samples represent commercial deliveries and how the contract defines dimensions, dosage form and relevant quality criteria. This separates chemical, water-supply and equipment issues. If fluctuations recur, the records can identify the appropriate responsible party instead of prompting repeated trial and error between changing products and adjusting equipment.

Does reduced chlorine delivery directly establish insufficient available chlorine in the tablets?

No. Assessment requires batch testing together with equipment and water-quality records. Correct tablet dimensions do not rule out water-supply or control problems.

Can fragments be placed in a feeder for another chlorine product?

Appearance or membership in the chlorine-product category cannot determine this. Follow the specific product and equipment restrictions on incompatible substances and permitted dosage forms.
