A cationic product is incompatible with existing chemicals
Observe deposits and efficacy in water samples containing the complete formulation.
Non-oxidizing biocides / Chemical
Dodecylguanidine hydrochloride · DGH
A non-oxidizing ingredient to evaluate for industrial recirculating water. Its cationic character, the complete formulated product and compatibility with actual water samples are selection priorities; DGH/Bronopol blends require separate evaluation as complete formulations.
An active component in defined industrial recirculating-water products.
Bring an existing model or purchasing specification directly into the discussion.
Identity and physical form identify the product; specific concentration, grade, packaging and uses are governed by mutually confirmed formulated-product documents.
01 / Product and applications
Dodecylguanidine hydrochloride; not PHMB or other guanidine polymers.
Product solvent, color and delivery form must match actual supply documents.
DGH is dodecylguanidine hydrochloride. The hydrochloride, acetate and free guanidine are different identities and cannot be combined in purchasing under dodecylguanidine or guanidines; DGH is also distinct from polymeric PHMB.
02 / Specification selection
| Items to confirm | Relevance to purchasing and use |
|---|---|
| DGH active content and product composition | Distinguish single-active products from blends. |
| Anionic chemicals and suspended solids | Check interactions and efficacy. |
| Foaming and process quality | Validate with actual circulation conditions. |
Include parameters, test methods and acceptance checkpoints in purchasing requirements to compare specifications.
03 / Applications and limits
These are starting points for conditional verification. Specific product suitability still requires joint confirmation through product documents, operating conditions and destination requirements.
04 / Common challenges
Observe deposits and efficacy in water samples containing the complete formulation.
Identify using the full English name and SDS.
Require trials matching the single-active product.
05 / Documents and evidence
These documents support technical categories and use limits, not ENVO certifications or customer cases. Verification date: 2026-10-26.
06 / Frequently asked questions
No. One is a specific small-molecule salt; the other is a polymeric biguanide category.
Available manufacturer documents cover those uses; other uses require separate evidence.
Compare complete ingredients, conditions and trial results, not total content alone.
Some commercial DGH formulations show temperature-dependent appearance changes. Turbidity alone does not establish active-ingredient failure, and another brand's instructions cannot guarantee an unexplained condition is acceptable.
The same DGH active does not mean identical delivery conditions. Carrier systems may change physical properties and the focus of storage, transport and equipment checks; purchasing should compare more than active percentage.
One active ingredient's compatibility statement cannot unconditionally cover every formulation containing it. DGH single-active products and combinations containing other biocides require separate review of complete product conditions.
